Election Holiday tomorrow for schools, colleges, offices as AP, Telangana, UP, Maharashtra vote on April 11

Lok Sabha Election 2019 would commence from, April 11, 2019. Due to polling, holiday for schools, colleges, government offices and banks would be observed in Mumbai, Noida, Pune, etc. Check complete list here.

Election Holiday would be observed tomorrow for constituencies which would be participating in the Lok Sabha Polls 2019 on April 11. Polling for General Elections 2019 would commence from tomorrow, April 11, 2019. The elections would be conducted across the country in 7 phases. For administrative, security reasons as well as to facilitate citizens in caste their votes, the schools, colleges and government offices would remain closed on the work days in case of polling. April 11 would be a holiday for schools, colleges and government offices states of AP, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha, etc.

Please note, As per ECI guidelines, schools, colleges and government offices would remain closed on the day of the elections in the contituency. While for some states the polling would be conducted in single phase, the day would be a state holiday for schools, colleges and government offices. However, for states like Uttar Pradesh (UP), Maharashtra, Odisha, etc., which would have multiple phase polling, the holiday would be observed in cities that would be polling – for example  in the cities of Noida, Mumbai, Raipur, Hyderabad, etc. The complete list is provided below.

First phase of polling or April 11 would be conducted in 20 states and 91 constituencies. The names of state wise constituency is provided below. Please note, while government offices, schools and colleges would remain closed as a rule, private offices may operate. Citizens are hence advised to kindly confirm with their offices. Alsom banks would be operational for most.

There is a state holiday tomorrow for the states of Uttarakhand, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh (AP), Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim as well as in the union territories of Andaman and Nocobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands. All the schools, colleges and government offices would remain closed in these states as they would have a single phase polling tomorrow. (Schools in Telangana and AP are closed due to summer vacations for students. Even the offices of such schools would remain closed).

Apart from these 8 states, polling would also be conducted in the states of Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Chattisgarh and Odisha. The constituencies that would be polling tomorrow and hence have a holiday are listed below.

Uttar Pradesh:  Saharanpur – Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Badaun, Aonla, Bareilly, Pilibhit; Shahjahanpur – Kheri, Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Hardoi, Misrikh, Unnao, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Kannauj, Kanpur Urban, Akbarpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Phulpur, Allahabad, Barabanki, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Kaiserganj, Shrawasti, Gonda, Domariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushi Nagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj.

For the state of Maharashtra, holiday would be observed in Nandurbar, Dhule ,Jalgaon ,Raver ,Buldhana, Akola, Amravati,Wardha ,Ramtek, Nagpur ,Bhandara-Gondiya, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Chandrapur, YavatmalWashim, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhan,i Jalna, Aurangabad, Dindori ,Nashik, Palghar,, Bhiwani ,Kalyan ,Thane, Mumbai,Raigad, Maval, Pune, Baramati, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi, Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Hatkanangle.

Chhattisgarh constituencies of Sarguja, Raigarh, Janjgir, Korba, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Raipur, Mahasamund, Bastar, Kanker would observe a holiday. Also, for Odisha, cities and towns of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Bhubhaneswar, Aska, Berhampur, Koraput would remain closed.

Finally, in the state of West Bengal -Cooch Behar, Alipurduars, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Raiganj, Balurghat, Maldaha Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Jangipur, Baharampur, Murshidabad, Krishnanagar, Rananghat, Bangaon, Barrackpur, Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Jaynagar, Mathurapur, Diamond harbour, Jadavpur,Kolkata Dakshin, Kolkata Uttar, Howrah, Uluberia, Srerampur, Hooghly, Arambag, Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur, Bardhaman purba, Bhardhaman-Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur, Birbhum would have holiday tomorrow, April 11.
