flydubai began flying to Almaty in 2014. In 2022, the airline carried almost 300,000 passengers between the UAE and Kazakhstan, up 145 percent from 2019.
The UAE and Kazakhstan cooperate in several sectors of the economy, including mining, agriculture, oil and gas, and construction.
Shymkent will be flydubai's third destination in Kazakhstan. There are 22 flights a week on the route. This frequency will increase to 26 flights a week from February, giving travelers in Kazakhstan more convenient options for flights and connections in Dubai.
After Almaty and Astana, Shymkent is the third largest city in Kazakhstan and a major cultural center with lively bazaars , ancient architecture and rich nature.
Flydubai is expanding its network in Central Asia to 10 destinations. These are Almaty, Ashgabat, Astana, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Namangan, Osh, Samarkand, Shymkent and Tashkent.
Flights between Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Shymkent International Airport (CIT) will operate twice a week. Emirates plans to use a codeshare service on this route, offering passengers even more options to travel through Dubai's international aviation hub.
