New Year's Eve traffic jams are predicted in Spain

According to the forecasts of the Spanish government, in period of Christmas and New Year holidays — From December 23, 2022 to January 8, 2023, —, about 18.2 million car trips will be made, which will inevitably lead to traffic jams and congestion, especially at entry and exit points on the highway.

On The Canary Islands, Madrid, Murcia and the Balearic Islands have around 4.4 million trips scheduled between December 23rd and 26th.

Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castile and Leon and Murcia from December 30th to January 1st also expect an increase in traffic due to the New Year holidays.

The government notes that the majority on the country's roads will be those who go to their second homes. In addition, heavy traffic is expected in areas with ski resorts, as well as near tourist attractions.
