Hyderabad: Senior Public Relations (PR) professionals have given a call to all Institutes to strengthen their PR in the wake of advancement of technology in communications and proliferation of social media in an unprecedented manner. At a programme organised by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Hyderabad chapter on Monday, GHMC, Chief PRO, K Venkata Ramana awarded Best Public Relations Manager award – 2019 to Dr. CV Narsimha Reddi.
Speaking on the occasion, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said PR has turned into a very important activity for every organisation and with the rapid proliferation of technology and social media, everybody in an organisation has become a Public Relations Officer (PRO). Explaining the paradigm shift from ‘cycle patrol’ in 1912 introduced by Nizam to ‘cyber patrol’ of the present times, Commissioner said that every citizen should act like police, who have to depend on the support of the community to discharge their duties.
Dileep Reddy, executive editor, Sakshi Media Group, said that PR is needed for nation building. “The need of the hour is professionalism as political class is creating a lot of confusion in the minds of people,” he said. Senior PR professional, Dr CV Narasimha Reddi made a detailed comparison between the PR systems in the USA and India. He appealed to the professional bodies to emulate the good practices of the USA to strengthen the PR systems.
