“Turkish Airlines” named new directions in different parts of the world, which are in the nearest plans of the airline. True, there are no clarifications yet when these plans will be realized — this will depend on the availability of aircraft and obtaining rights to fly.
Turkish Airlines plans to operate flights to Orlando, Detroit and Denver. When this happens, the Star Alliance member carrier will have 15 US routes — a key growth market for the carrier operating its own aircraft.
These destinations will join Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas — start of flights in September 2021, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York Kennedy Airport, Newark — May 2021, San Francisco, Seattle — May 2022) and Washington.
In South America, Turkish Airlines will add Rio de Janeiro and Santiago. It currently serves Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Caracas and Sao Paulo. Elsewhere in Latin America, the airline has just launched its first-ever non-stop flights from Istanbul to Panama.
Europe and CIS
In Europe, Turkish Airlines singled out Bergen, Krakow, Iasi and Timisoara (Romania), La Coruna (near Santiago de Compostela, where it flew from May 2013 to June 2016), Lankaran (Azerbaijan), Makhachkala as key , Nantes, Newcastle and Palermo.
Lankaran — Azerbaijan's fourth largest city, located close to the Caspian Sea, will become Turkish Airlines' sixth destination in the CIS. It will join Baku (Azerbaijan), Batumi (Georgia), Ganja (Azerbaijan), Nakhichevan (Azerbaijan) and Tbilisi (Georgia). But in Armenia “Turkish” don't fly. This is due to relations between the countries, although limited flights to Yerevan are now operated by other carriers.
The English Newcastle will complement the powerful link of Air France, British Airways, Emirates, KLM and Lufthansa. Turkish Airlines is targeting the wider demand for flights to Newcastle from Turkey, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Turkish Airlines will grow with such cities as Atyrau (Kazakhstan), Aktobe (Kazakhstan), Penang (Malaysia), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Sialkot (Pakistan) and Sydney (Australia).
Line Istanbul – Atyrau is currently served by Air Astana and SCAT, while Aktobe is wholly owned by SCAT. Unlike these operators, Turkish Airlines will focus on connecting Kazakh cities with Europe and other regions. Indeed, Central Asia is an important destination for the carrier, and not only because of historical ties.
This winter it serves 13 cities in Central Asia: Aktau (Kazakhstan), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Bukhara (Uzbekistan), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Fergana (Uzbekistan), Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Turkestan (Kazakhstan), Urgench (Uzbekistan). Charter flights are operated to Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan).
