Among the new members of the World Tourism Organization, six represent Europe, four &mdash ; North and South America, four — Asia and the Pacific, two — Africa and two — Middle East.
In accordance with the current standard admissions ceremony, 18 nominations were submitted for consideration and approval by the 117th Executive Council of the UNWTO, after prior review and approval by the Association's Membership Committee. The meeting of the Committee took place on 17 November. After the official approval of the Executive Council, new members can enjoy all the rights and benefits corresponding to membership in the UNWTO, in accordance with the charter and rules of the Organization.
UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili noted: “We are proud that the network of affiliated Membership is growing and we would like to warmly welcome the 18 new organizations that have joined our community».
